If you are like me, you probably do the same thing every morning in the same manner. We are after all creatures of habit. We become comfortable with doing things a certain way and we usually stick with it. The comes about when what you do is not working for you. Does this describe you?
This Does Not Work
If you get up in the morning and immediately think about that deadline you have to meet, or that report you have to get together, or the work you have to turn in you are starting your day with anxiety based on the demands of others. This is not feeding your soul. This does not create margin or peace in your life. This does not lead to clarity or a personal direction for your life.
What Does Work
I have found a great deal of joy, fulfillment, inner peace and clarity by creating morning rituals designed to feed me. I can say that I do not follow this religiously, consistency is an area that I can use additional improvement in. I do know that there is a huge difference in my day when I follow my designed morning ritual and when I just wake up and start my day worried about every one else’s agenda. One of the biggest differences is that I feel a greater sense of joy and fulfillment in my life. This joy is something that I share with my family and everyone around me. I am more creative, more productive and feel an overall greater sense of joy.
Start a morning ritual that feeds you. Don’t overwhelm yourself by doing too much at one time. You will have better results if you change things incrementally.
